TOWNS WINE CO. is a wine company that aims to amplify underrepresented voices in the wine industry.

We produce wines that share stories the world needs to hear. Our inaugural Inkwell Edition is named after the celebrated beach on Martha's Vineyard, a place that embodies our vision of how America should be — inclusive and welcoming.

Our first release is 215 cases of Pinot Noir from South Africa. Created by a winemaker who is considered South Africa’s next Pinot Noir icon. Her story is powerful.

We partner with female winemakers of color to help tell their stories and showcase their talent and regions. We reinvest the profits back into our partner winemakers to not only promote diversity and representation but also: economic empowerment, encourage entrepreneurship, cultural diversity in winemaking, changing industry norms, customer preferences.

  • A true reflection of site. This Pinot Noir shows beautiful aromas of ripe raspberry, cassis leaf, cacao, cranberry, with hints of pink peppercorns with rose petals, violets and pomegranate. Medium intensity of flavors follows through on the palate, ripe raspberry, cassis leaf, cacao, cranberry, pink peppercorns with rose petals, violets and pomegranate. Medium acidity, fine grained tannins, lingering pomegranate. Introducing an elegant dry finish, this is an age-worthy wine.

  • Overberg is a region in South Africa 90 miles to the east of Cape Town. It is located in the Western Cape province and is known for its diverse landscapes, picturesque coastlines, fertile farmlands, and charming towns. The region stretches from the Hottentots Holland Mountains in the west to the Breede River in the east.

The Overberg region experiences a cool maritime climate due to its proximity to the ocean. The cool sea breezes have a moderating effect on the temperatures, making it suitable for growing a variety of grape varieties. The region's climate is characterized by mild, wet winters and warm, dry summers.

The Inkwell Edition expresses the site of the Overberg with its shale derived clay-rich soils adding minerality and complexity. The Overberg is a region of diverse terroirs, with a mix of soils, altitudes, and exposures. The varying altitudes and exposures also contribute to the diversity of wine styles produced in the region.
